Corpse Carver

It’s never good to start one’s day alone, bloody, and - worst of all - soaking wet when on expedition in the coldest reaches of our worlds, and yet, there I was.
I was first stuck in the leg, and knocked prone. Then something latched onto my shoulder and everything turned black. I’d been pulled into the water
A swarm of tentacles was lashing at my body. A mass of white, rotten flesh - like the corpse of a whale that has floated too long - appeared below.
I roared.
