A complete solo tabletop adventure

Step-by-step character creation

All the rules you need to play

All you’ll need to play is a deck of cards, some six-sided dice, and a notebook to record your discoveries.

Play How You Want

In Unknown Variables: Secrets of Soubos, journaling is a key component of game play. You are welcome to journal in any way that you like - text entries, sketches, or a combination.

Your text entries can be as robust or sparse as you want and your art can be as polished or sketchy as you want.

Your journal is for you. It should be fun for you to make. If it’s not fun - don’t do it. This is a game.

In this game, you are pretending to be a good-aligned, scientifically-minded, space-adventurer who is not human in a universe where Earth does not exist. You are recording your adventures on an alien world.

Play with that.

What are your senses like? What are your likes and dislikes? What is true on your planet of origin that would never be true on Earth? What does it feel like to be you? All these things will shape who your character is - as a person.

There is only one rule that you should follow when journaling:

Make sure to write within the bounds of the prompt.

…and the story and your die rolls will help guide you the rest of the way!

There are Pre - Generated Characters that you can Color!

Making a character is sometimes the hardest part of starting a new game, so you can skip that. We’ve already created five, ready-to-go characters that you can print and play with! You can also color them in. :)

Alternatively, there’s a robust character creation system that you can use to create a brand new character, a character from a species already in other Astra Fauna books, or your own OC.

There are recruitable characters and pets!

Yep, you read that right - you can recruit some characters you meet along the way to help with this current adventure, and future adventures! I’m not going to show them to you right now, since they are secrets…but the art for them is done! You’ll just need to go make friends and see.
